TIKKUN MOSHIACH BEN IZEVEL

Emil G. Hirsch, Ira Maurice Price: The aggressive character of Jezebel went so far as to require that her religion should be the national religion of Israel.
WALLY: Most Jews and Christians don’t want to hear that the first kingdom of Israel wasn’t founded by David or Solomon but by the supposedly devious sinners Ahab and Jezebel.
A true kingdom — featuring monumental building projects, a professional army and bureaucracy — didn’t appear on the ancient Near East scene until the early 9th century BCE, during what’s known as the Omride Dynasty.
This won’t sit well with biblical literalists, given that the most famous figures from this line are King Ahab and his notorious wife, Jezebel, a demonized princess from Phoenicia.
ISRAEL DRAZIN: It is generally unknown that according to tradition the messiah who will bring peace to the world is not only a descendant of King David, but also from the wicked King Ahab and Queen Jezebel, the later being a rabid worshiper of the idol Baal and murderer of many prophets of the Lord.

NEW WORLD ENCYCLOPEDIA: After Ahab's death, Jezebel continued to hold influence through her sons Ahaziah and Joram, who succeeded her husband on the throne. Her daughter, Athaliah reigned for several years as queen of Judah, the only woman to rule either Judah or Israel as queen. Jezebel's lineage thus merged with the Davidic kings. Though seldom acknowledged as such, she is thus one of the ancestors of Jesus Christ according to the genealogy implied in the Gospel of Matthew.

MESU ANDREWS: While I enjoyed the book In the Shadow of Jezebel very much, there was something that started really bothering me when I realized that Ahaziah was Athaliah’s son. Ahaziah is in the kingly line of David which means that he is an ancestor of Jesus. But as Athaliah’s son, that means Ahaziah is the grandson of Ahab. And Jezebel. This niggled in the back of my mind as I read the book, and to be honest, I really didn’t like it. I don’t like thinking about Jezebel being Jesus’ great-great-great…grandma. I don’t like it at all.
MESU ANDREWSI mean, sure, God can redeem Tamar’s incestuous relationship with Judah to keep the line going. And He can redeem Rahab and David’s sins. But Athaliah? And Ahab and Jezebel? Isn’t that going a little too far?

I encourage you to join me and spend a few minutes today pondering the Gospel – that in Jesus, God takes all that is broken, rebellious, and downright revolting and makes it whole, righteous and beautiful in His sight.

After all, if God can take the DNA of Tamar, Judah, Rahab, David and Bathsheba, and even Ahab and Jezebel and Athaliah and make a body to house His Own Self, there is absolutely no one and nothing He cannot redeem and make a part of His family!
NEW WORLD ENCYCLOPEDIA: Ironically, because Joash is Jezebel's great-grandson, this move places Jezebel herself in the position of the foremother of the remaining Davidic kings, from whom the Messiah himself was prophesied to come. In Christian tradition, Jesus was descended from this Davidic lineage (Mt. 1:8). He is, in that sense, not only the "son of David," but also the "son of Jezebel."

TAMAR KADARI: midrash seemingly comes to somewhat moderate Elijah’s powers as they are presented in the Biblical narrative, since he does not control everything, but receives only one key at a time: the key of the woman giving birth, the key of rain and the key of the resurrection of the dead.

ANAT SCHNEIDER: Jezebel is both controlling but also a survivor.

ANAT SCHNEIDER: Jezebel was the daughter of Etbaal, a Lebanese king. A lady of talent and poise, she is one of the only women in the Bible described as authoring official documents. Ahab, King of Israel, married her to strengthen the alliance between Israel and Tyre. This was an important alliance which enabled Ahab to overcome the superior Assyrian army that threatened to take over the region.

TAMAR KADARI: Despite their negative description of Jezebel, the Rabbis did not refrain from enumerating her merits when she was worthy of praise.

ROBERT OSCAR LOPEZ: All the recent Jezebel moves have emasculated the Christian leadership and made it more possible for advocates of abortion and LGBT to make greater headway into the church.

OCCULT WORLDHer altar or her images may be placed beside a window, looking out.
OCCULT WORLD: For many, Jezebel epitomizes the archetypal “evil queen.” Conventional Jewish wisdom suggests that she was a powerful witch although there are occasional moderating voices (even the Talmud describes Jezebel as sometimes very charitable).

"Now Ahab told Jezebel everything" (1 Kings 19:1).

JEFF BERGER: Jezebel, the despotic queen mother, was defenestrated by her staff; her blood splattering the walls below and her flesh consumed by stray dogs (II Kings 9:30-37). Yet before meeting this grotesque fate, she notably put on her make-up.

"Herod was very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon" (Acts 12:20).
SHMULEY BOTEACH: Every year the Jewish nation is confronted with the challenge of personal and national renewal, and this is the essence of Rosh Hashanah, the New Year.
Every year we are confronted with the challenge of renewing our identities, both personal and public, and renewing our lives.
But renewal is no easy task. When we speak of refreshing our identities, we mean that the person’s core personality must find newer, deeper and more mature modes of expression.
The question of renewing the faith pivots on the far more fundamental question of what is the essence of Judaism. Once that is identified, newer methods of revealing its essence can be employed.
MESSIANIC HEBREW MINISTRIES: If the Iyzebel (Jezebel) of Revelation 2:20 is not a real person, she is a ruach (spirit). The ruach Iyzebel (Spirit of Jezebel) represents the ruchani avodah zara (spiritual idolatry) practiced by Church members influenced by the worldly customs of Thyatira, and is still active in many Churches and Christians today.

AVRAHAM EDELSTEIN: Why did the Jewish people not transform themselves and do teshuvah in the face of a clear proof of God’s existence? Because Izevel, queen of the Northern Kingdom, offered a different explanation. The gods of the Baal, she said, like human sacrifice. What happened was supposed to happen. Izevel found an alternative explanation, and that was all the skeptics needed.

WIKIPEDIA: The name Jezebel (Hebrew: אִיזֶבֶל‎) is "best understood as meaning 'Where is the Prince?'" (אֵיזוֹ בַּעַל‎ ’ēyzō ba’al), a ritual cry from worship ceremonies in honor of Baal during periods of the year when God was considered to be in the Underworld.

GEOFFREY DENNIS: Little is known about biblical witchcraft.

EDGAR ALLAN SANTAYANA: Hear yeah! Hear yeah! Jesus emphasized that holiness starts in listening. St. Augustine said: Mary, before becoming the mother of Jesus, is first a Disciple of her Son. Discipleship starts with listening. Let us silence our hearts. The quieter we become, the more we can listen. It is by letting God speak in the stillness of our hearts that we are able to observe His words in our loves.

GEOFFREY DENNIS: witches in the Bible are often shown in positions of power, notably the wizards in the employ of the kings of Babylon and Egypt and the witches in the employ of King Manasseh. Queen Jezebel herself is a witch (Exodus 7: 11; Daniel 2:2; II Kings 9:22, 21:2).
