TIKKUN MELECH TZOR

YEHUDA SHURPIN: When Job reminisces about his “good old days,” he says, “And I said, ‘I will perish with my nest, and like a chol [וְכַחוֹל] I will multiply my days.’” According to many translations, the word chol refers to the phoenix.

JOSHUA J. MARK: Tyre is an ancient Phoenician port city which, in myth, is known as the birthplace of Europa (who gave Europe its name)

WIKIPEDIA: The earliest Phoenician settlements outside the Levant were on Cyprus and Crete, gradually moving westward towards Corsica, the Balearic Islands, Sardinia, and Sicily, as well as on the European mainland in Genoa and Marseilles. As the largest and wealthiest city-state among the Phoenicians, Tyre led the way in settling or controlling coastal areas. Notwithstanding Strabo's exaggerated claims the Tyre founded 300 colonies in north Africa, many colonies did arise in Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Iberia, and, to a much lesser extent, on the arid coast of Libya.

MARK CARTWRIGHT: According to Hesiod in his Theogony, Europa is a daughter of Ocean and the Titan Tethys (357) while Homer’s Iliad has her as the daughter of Phoenix (14:321). In another version of the story Europa is a Phoenician princess, the daughter of the Phoenician King of Tyre, Agenor, and Phoenix is her brother. This is the version of events presented by the 5th-century BCE historian Herodotus (1.2.1).
TOVA GANZEL: Tyre withstood the siege throughout the period of the Babylonian empire.
GIDON ROTHSTEIN: Remember, cherubim were rather impressive creatures, not the winged babies of Renaissance art.

RAANAN EICHLER: In short, once we repoint the word וישכן, we learn that it is God [H]imself [W]ho settles east of the garden of Eden in order to guard the way to the tree of life, while the cherubim and the spinning-sword-flame assist [H]im in this task.

DAFEI TANG: It may be surmised that the motive of the primordial snake was to steal the glory and beauty from Adam and Eve. Similarly, the King of Tzor מֶלֶךְ צוֹר has a gematria of 386, exactly the gematria of Yeshua יֵשׁוּעַ, the name of the Mashiach, again the cure is in the cause, fittingly.

RAANAN EICHLER: God speaks on two separate occasions with Cain (4:6–7, 9–15). Since Cain, at this point, is certainly outside the Garden of Eden, it seems that the narrator expects it to be clear to the reader that God too is now located outside the garden. God was said to have taken up residence right outside the garden.
